David Brims – Digital Artist
Painters start with an empty canvas and fill it with colour. Photographers have the reverse problem as we start with a full ‘canvas’ and try to omit and simplify to express a feeling. I want to create images that express something and do not try to make an accurate record of what was there. I manipulate the images using Lightroom and PhotoShop and indeed anything else to enhance the result.
The best editing tool is time and most images take months to progress. I painted watercolours for many years and this influences how the pictures appear, some being mistaken for watercolours. I also print onto a long established watercolour paper.
