I find inspiration in the patterns, textures and colours of the natural world. The aim of my work is to share my delight in the beauty to be found in the small details all around us – in trees, plants, flowers and roots, rock, stone and water. I also enjoy working on animal subjects, trying to convey their individual personalities and quirks.
Coloured pencil is my favourite medium. It allows me to capture my subject directly onto paper with directness and simplicity, enabling me to concentrate on the image rather than the technique, and I am a member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society.
I have exhibited at the Titchfield Art and Craft Show for many years and it is one of my favourite events. For many years I showed and sold my work at the annual MIWAS wildlife art exhibition, and now exhibit with Southern Nature. In 2015 I was thrilled to have two graphite drawings accepted for the Society of Graphic Fine Art DRAW 15 exhibition at the Menier Gallery in London, and in 2016 one of my coloured pencil pictures was selected for exhibition at Mottisfont, near Romsey.
