Farham Art Trail
Following on from the Hampshire Open Studios 2014 we have the first ever Fareham Art Trail happening this year.
For information about the Fareham Art Trail go to the website or read the invitation from the organiser, Beth;
Fareham Art Trail is the first ever big art event for Fareham, a small market town in Hampshire. Featuring local, amateur, professional, national and European artists including some of note (Jon Adams, Al Johnson, Sam Pierpoint, Ginny Topp, David Hamilton, Chris May, etc). There is also work by local community groups on display; those with autism and local children from a range of schools (inc, special schools, nursery and home education). On Saturday we kicked off with our FREE Magentic art event where members of the public were free to take home original art work for nothing. The magnets involved shrunk down artwork along with the artists details and a QR code that when scanned takes people to a page where they can find out more about the artist and links to their websites. On Bank Holiday Monday (weather permitting) we have the BIG SOUTHERN ART SWAP between 12-3 at the town’s podium. Everyone is invited to take along all their art, craft, photography, writing, film, etc and swap it for someone else’s work. All work will be accepted and all those who take part have to do is to write one positive thing about the piece they have taken. People are free to swap as many times as they like, but they must take something. We hope to create a continuing dialogue about what art is and to have no pieces left by the end of the day! The Fareham Art Trail runs for a week and features: painting, film, sound installation, photography, installations, a sculpture garden, mixed media, 3D pieces, papercuts, screenprints and more! Come to Fareham this week and get absorbed in Art.
Please note due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control Krafttea Coffee is no longer one of our venues and this work can now be seen as part of the Ferneham Hall exhibition.
This morning Jacqui Knott and Mark Pearce went to BBC Radio Solent to chat with Nick Girdler about the upcoming show, the departure of Jacqui & Sarah from the Chairman and Secretary roles and the future of the Titchfield Art & Craft Show. They also had a look at a couple of news stories that were in the papers this week.
You can listen to the interview here, for the next 7 days. Fast forward to 31:20 to get directly to the interview.
Today I am off to Titchfield Country Market to check that we are all sorted for the Show weekend. The ladies at the market do a fantastic job of running a tea, coffee and sandwiches/cakes bar for the duration of the show weekend, as well as having a great selection of produce for sale in the Haven Room.
This year we are also hoping to have a Country Market stall selling their produce on the Preview Evening, another good reason to get your tickets now (See previous BLOG post).
The Titchfield Country Market is held every Friday at the Parish Rooms from 10am to 11:30am, but you need to get there early to get all the good stuff!
If you want to find out more about the Hampshire Country Markets then head over to their website : Hampshire Country Markets
Maybe I’ll see a few of you there this morning?
We have 1 month to go until the deadline for applications to exhibit Art/Photography at our show this year.
Since opening on the 5th February we have had a steady flow of application forms, so don’t delay and send in your application as soon as possible. If we do receive too many applications before the 25th March we may have to return applications due to space limits.
Download the application form here.
As part of the set up for the Titchfield Art & Craft Show we have a group of volunteers that help set up the Main Hall and the Rooms that we need for the show, referred to as the Heavy Gang due to the fact that it involves lifting and shifting things around the Community Centre.
We need a few extra volunteers this year for the Heavy Gang to help us to do this.
The dates that we need people are as follows :
- Sunday 13th April (Times to be confirmed but probably 10:30 – 12:00)
- Thursday 24th April (1:30pm – 3:00pm)
- Friday 25th April (2:00pm – 3:00pm)
If you are able to help us with this vital work to get Titchfield Community Centre set up for the show, please contact us by email to : email@example.com
If you are interested in any other activities then please use the contact for to provide us with your details.
Well this week has been a great week indeed. Not only have we appeared in the Upcoming Opportunities section of The Artist magazine, we have also been included in the Daily Echo.
This year is already looking to be great.
All the committee are looking forward to April to see all the great work, and meet with the Artists.
