2016 New Exhibitor Winner – Sian Reading.
As we start to get organised for the 2017 Titchfield Art & Craft Show we thought we would remind our visitors and exhibitors of some of the winners from the 2016 Show. We always make sure we have a picture of all our winning works of art, especially the New Exhibitors, as these are used in the catalogue for the following year.
Sian Reading is a member of local art group “The Haven Artists” and is the second member of the group to be awarded 1st place in the New Exhibitor category.
Sians picture, “At the Races”, will be featured on the cover of the 2017 Titchfield Art & Craft Show catalogue.

The Titchfield Art and Craft Show, now in its 43rd year, continues to attract a large number of visitors from around the region. Held in the Community Centre in the historic village of Titchfield, the show offers visitors a wide variety of local art work and, in recent years, has introduced crafts and demonstrations by local makers and societies; promoting the two events together is helping to bridge the gulf between art and craft and attract contemporary art collectors to buy good quality craft and design. Proceeds from the stand fees is split between the Community Centre charity and other local charities decided by the art show committee. The next show will take place from the 5th to 7th May 2017 with opening times as follows:
Preview Evening 5th May 2017 : 7pm – 9.30pm
Saturday 6th May 2017 : 10am – 5pm
Sunday 7th May 2017 : 10am – 4pm
The show is publicised via local media, road signs and postcards, in addition to social network sites and internet listings. Each maker is sent electronic posters to send to mailing lists, friends and family.
To download the application pack and for further information please visit the Craft page on our website.

Jessica will be judging for the overall Judges choice award, provided by Fareham Gallery. She will have a tough choice this year with 140 artists and over 300 individual pieces of work being entered into the show.
Setting up for Titchfield Art & Craft Show 2016
We have already made a start to the busy week that runs up to Titchfield Art & Craft Show. On Sunday we started putting up some of the boards that we display all our artists work on. We do this in order to give us enough time to get all 400+ pictures hung on Friday ready to be judged at 4pm. We also then have our Preview Evening on the same day, so Friday is a very busy day for us.
We are lucky to be supported by a lot of volunteers who help with cooking for the preview evening, hanging artwork, receiving Art work from artists and setting up the hall ready for all of this. We are very grateful for all the time that people put into helping us make this all possible.
Artists will be dropping off their work on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, and then we hope to see all of our special guests at our Preview Evening on Friday, The Preview evening is ticket only, tickets can be purchased from Titchfield Community Centre.
We are now open for applications from Artists and Photographers to enter their work for the Titchfield Art & Craft Show 2016.
Please see the Artists & Photographers page for full information about exhibiting your work.
The deadline for applications is Friday 11th March 2016 although if there is high demand we may have to close earlier.
Hampshire Open Studios.
With it being day one of the Hampshire Open Studios for 2015 we decided to select an area and visit a few artists/groups to see. We chose a few in the Winchester/Romsey and Chandlers Ford area as a round route for the day.
As we have at least one exhibitor at Titchfield that is part of this group we started off at Winchester. The Exhibition is in the Link Gallery and is a great space to display work. We particularly liked Karen Eames 2 latest pieces from her Sky series, eminently displayed in front of you as you walk into the gallery. Today, Sunday 23rd August 2015, they have their meet the artists day from 12 – 4pm.
We moved on to New Road Artists in Timsbury, a group of artists that meet regularly at Jubilee Hall, New Road, Timsbury. This is a great hall, both as an exhibition space and as a working space for them to meet in. There was some wonderful work by several artists on display, and a couple of familiar names included in them. We particular liked the work of Jill Jennings here.
Next we visited Vivien Laura Verey in her beautiful home. She has a lovely collection of 50 paintings on display and we would recommend a visit to see her paintings of local landscapes. Vivien and her husband were very welcoming and it was lovely to sit and chat about painting with them on their stunning decking area.
We visited Christine last year, and we have been referring to her as the lady with the house ever since. She has an eclectic collection of her work throughout her house and garden. There is also Tea and Cakes on offer, which you can enjoy sat in the garden.
Open Studio 77 – Jenny Morgan.
As we were in the area we decided to pay a visit to one of our regular artists, who I don’t believe has missed one of our shows since she started exhibiting work with us. Jenny has a lovely collection of work in her home, and she is passionate about her current collage work which looks absolutely amazing. She uses scraps of magazines to create pictures. She has examples of work in progress which show how time consuming and difficult it can be to find just the right scrap of paper for each part of the picture.
Again we visited Louise and Gordon Brown last year, and I have to admit that the main reason for making their Open Studio our last stop of the day was to enjoy their wonderful home made cake and a pot of tea! Gordon’s photography is well displayed in his studio at the bottom of the garden, and displays a great variety of styles, from iPhone photo’s to local scenes and everything in-between. Louise has been interested in basket making and has now started to sell some of her baskets as well. They also do picture framing in their studio.
So after visiting 6 studios, and with quite a bit of talking with people, we decided to call it a day returning home with bags bulging with gift cards, prints and craft. It is always great to be able to visit artists in a different setting, and we hope that a few of the artists that we haven’t met before may consider exhibiting at our show next year.
Today we are hoping to manage to visit more studios in the area, and keep dry at the same time!

Let the countdown commence…
5 days to go…
As the countdown begins with only a few days left to go before we open our doors to the Titchfield Art & Craft Show 2015 for the preview evening on Friday 24th April at 7pm we are starting to get the main hall at Titchfield Community Centre ready for the exhibition. Today, Sunday 19th April, we have installed the first of the display boards we use for displaying the art work. They are mounted on the walls around the community centre main hall prior to the initial show set up as they do not interfere with the use of the hall, and it takes a bit of pressure off on Thursday/Friday this week getting everything else set up.
The rest of the week is also going to be a full one.
- There are Catalogues to collect from our Printers, the fantastic Quay Graphic Ltd, who have been printing our catalogue for several years now
- Preview Evening Tickets to sell
- Posters to put up
- Sign to install
- Artwork to be collected
- Nibbles and refreshments to be arranged/baked for the preview evening
We will keep you up to date with our progress this week in the run up to the show and we are very much looking forward to welcoming the Artists, Crafters and visitors alike to the Titchfield Art & Craft Show 2015.
Mark Pearce, Chairman.
