Studio Blue Sea have been traveling artists for many years, exhibiting and selling our work in countries from Africa to the West Indies and Europe. We opened our studio and gallery space in Alverstoke in November 2015 where we show our work and give art classes. We will be exhibiting with Hampshire Open Studios in the summer.
Miles has drawn since childhood. In his teens he developed a daily drawing practice, which he continues to this day. He is self-taught and the intense study that he has devoted to art means that he has become a good teacher of drawing and watercolour as he can pass on the ‘short cuts’ having discovered them for himself. His style ranges from artistic realism to more abstract work depending on his subject and he is also known for his ‘story paintings’: large watercolours based around world or cultural events and people.
Pippa is a marbler and uses her marbled papers in her distinctive sketchbooks and journals. She makes collages using organic materials collected from her travels, combining interesting objects with fabrics and papers.
Our work is very much influenced by our lifestyle and by the places we’ve visited and the people we’ve met.
